18th Match, ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2025
26 Nov | 5:30 am (EAT) | Asian Institute of Technology Cricket Ground
Uganda prepares to face hosts Thailand Women in what promises to be a defining contest of the tournament.
The match comes at a crucial moment for the Victoria Pearls, who are looking to respond strongly after a difficult outing in their previous game against the United Arab Emirates Women.
Uganda’s Previous Match: Lessons from the UAE Defeat
Uganda’s last match against UAE Women proved challenging right from the start.
After being sent in to bat, the Victoria Pearls struggled to build momentum and eventually posted 75 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Captain Janet Mbabazi top-scored with a determined 16 off 26 balls, while Kevin Awino held the lower order together with an unbeaten 13 off 30 deliveries.
Proscovia Alako contributed 12 off 18, Esther Iloku added 9 off 13, and Rita Musamali chipped in with 7 off 9.
Despite these individual efforts, Uganda were unable to stitch together partnerships strong enough to lift the run rate.
UAE’s disciplined attack, led by Vaishnave Mahesh, who claimed 3 for 21 in four overs, kept Uganda in check throughout the innings.

Defending a modest total, Victoria Pearls found it difficult to contain UAE’s batting duo.
Esha Oza dominated the chase with a commanding 48 not out from 30 balls, striking seven fours and a six, while her opening partner, Theertha Satish, remained unbeaten on 22 off 20.
The pair guided UAE to 76 without loss in just 8.2 overs, sealing a ten-wicket defeat that exposed Uganda’s struggles in both departments on the day.
Regrouping and Re-focusing Ahead of Thailand
The loss to UAE has left Uganda with plenty to reflect on, particularly in terms of batting rhythm, strike rotation, and maintaining composure under pressure.
The Pearls will be keen to convert their starts into more meaningful contributions, avoid early wickets, and build partnerships that allow them to control phases of the game.
The bowling unit will also target greater accuracy, especially during the powerplay, where containing boundaries and reducing extras will be essential.
Uganda’s fielding intensity and communication will need to rise as well.
Against Thailand, a sharper, more cohesive performance will be required to stay competitive, especially given the hosts’ familiarity with the conditions and their solid tournament form.
Thailand Women: The Challenge Ahead
Thailand Women come into this match with confidence and the advantage of home conditions.
They have shown strong tactical awareness, effective spin options, and a batting group capable of adapting to varying pitches.
Playing in Bangkok, they will look to impose themselves early, especially with the ball, where they have often controlled games through disciplined lines and lengths.
For Uganda, however, this match represents more than just another fixture. It is a chance to show resilience, character, and intent – and an opportunity to bounce back from the UAE result with a display that reflects their true competitive spirit.
Looking Ahead
Thailand, playing at home, will be the favourites, but Uganda carry the hunger to finish their campaign with pride and conviction.
The match presents a perfect opportunity for the Victoria Pearls to rewrite the narrative of their tournament and put on a performance that reflects their potential, discipline, and resilience.
