The group stage curtain comes down this weekend – and with it, the last chance for teams to stake their claim in the knockout rounds.

Every point now matters, every over could decide fate, and for several clubs across all four groups, this weekend is make-or-break.

Here’s your full matchday preview as the UG20 League heads for its grand playoff stage.

SATURDAY, 1 NOVEMBER

Budo vs Tornado Bee – Entebbe Cricket Oval

The race for Group A’s second spot heats up as Tornado Bee face Budo in a must-win encounter at Entebbe Oval.

Currently third on the table with 7 points, Tornado Bee must win both their remaining fixtures to stay in playoff contention. Two victories could lift them to second — but only if Wanderers slip twice against GM Sugar.

For Budo, it’s all about pride, but they’ll be eager to finish their campaign on a high note and spoil Tornado Bee’s party.

It’s simple for Tornado: win or watch the knockouts from home.

Tornado vs JACC – Jinja SS Cricket Oval

In Group C, it’s all to play for as JACC welcome Tornado in another high-stakes matchup.

JACC sit third in the group and know that victory – coupled with a superior Net Run Rate – could see them leapfrog Ismaili into second place, but only if Ismaili stumble on Sunday.

However, if the Ismaili Community wins both of their remaining fixtures, even back-to-back JACC victories won’t change the standings, meaning the Avengers and Ismaili would advance to the playoffs.

It’s crunch time in Jinja as JACC fight to keep their knockout hopes alive.

SUNDAY, 2 NOVEMBER

Ismaili vs Jinja SS – Jinja SS Oval

Sunday’s Group C blockbuster sees Ismaili Community travel to Jinja SS Oval knowing destiny is in their hands.

Ismaili, currently second on 12 points, can finish top of the table with two wins — moving ahead of Avengers, who also sit on 12.

However, the equation is delicate: if the Ismaili lose twice and JACC win twice, they’ll be overtaken and eliminated from playoff contention.

A win keeps their dream alive; a stumble could prove costly. Expect nerves, noise, and nail-biting tension in Jinja.

Wanderers vs GM Sugar – GM Sugar Oval

The defending champions’ fate will be tested against the league’s unstoppable force.

Wanderers, second in Group A with 10 points from six games, must secure at least one win to guarantee a playoff berth.

But standing in their way are unbeaten GM Sugar, Group A’s dominant leaders.

Should Wanderers falter, and if Tornado Bee sweep their doubleheader, the defending champions could drop to third and miss the knockouts altogether.

It’s titleholders vs table-toppers – and it doesn’t get bigger than this.

Ceylon vs Patidar – Serenity Oval, Kamengo

Group D drama unfolds as Ceylon Lions hunt for a crucial win over Patidar to keep their playoff dream alive.

With 7 points from six games, Ceylon sit third but have a superior Net Run Rate over second-placed Mukono Development.

One win could pull them level on points and lift them into the top two — but a loss ends their campaign.

Patidar, already out of contention, will look to play spoilers in Kamengo’s final group-stage fixture.

Kutchi Tigers B vs Aboojo – Entebbe Cricket Oval

Originally scheduled for Florida Oval, this Group B showdown moves to Entebbe — and it’s a first-ever meeting between these sides.

Aboojo, third with 9 points, still have a path to the top. Two wins would push them to 13 points — enough to leapfrog leaders Rounders and secure a playoff spot.

But the margin for error is razor-thin: a single loss could drop them to third behind Mukono Warriors, who sit second with 11 points and a stronger Net Run Rate.

As for Kutchi Tigers B, their campaign ends here — winless so far, and mathematically out of the race.

For Aboojo, it’s simple: two wins, or no knockouts.

CONCLUSION

The final weekend of group action promises high drama, tense finishes, and defining moments across every oval.

By Sunday evening, the Quarterfinal line-up will be set — and dreams will either live on or end at the boundary rope.
