Martin Ondeko was on friday announced as the new CEO of Uganda Cricket by the chairman of board Ansasira Bashir. Martin who has been acting CEO since March when Justine Ligyalingi’s contract ended has been handed a three year deal to progress the game.
Martin is not new to UCA an organisation he joined in 2005 as an administrative officer, the was promoted to the role of Operations Manager in 2013 and his appointment is seen as a smooth transition from Justine who is credited with developing the structures for UCA to Martin who has been mentored by Justine.
As an individual Martin has done alot of Sports Administration and leadership courses conducted by the ICC and his knowledge of the local game will be key in his handling of things.
In his first words to the press Martin was appreciated to the board for putting faith in his abilities to lead the association and he looks ahead to an exciting time to grow and improve cricket.
He identified the key areas for growth of the game being its awareness to the public and the improved performance of national teams on the international scene as his key performance indicators.
