With standout performances from Devansh Patel and Patel Pransu, they arrive in Fort Portal as serious contenders for the national title.

Horizon International and St. James SS reached the semis.

Western Region
Nyakasura School, the main hosts of this year’s edition, stormed to victory with a record-breaking 224-run win over Rwenzori SS—the largest margin in all regional qualifiers. Kilembe SS and Kasese SS were the other semifinalists.

Community Impact and Local Voices

Kakande Ivan, Western Regional Development Officer for Uganda Cricket Association, expressed enthusiasm for the tournament’s return to Fort Portal:

“This event is expected to positively impact communities in Western Uganda, including Kasese and Mbarara, by creating opportunities for young cricketers—both girls and boys—and attracting new primary and secondary schools. We aim to increase involvement of umpires, scorers, and teachers, fostering a love for cricket. The tournament will bring development to local playgrounds and promote cricket activities and sensitization among youth.”

Emmanuel Kakuba, teacher in charge of Cricket at Nyakasura School and host coordinator, emphasised the historical significance of the event:

“It must be put in history that the first cricket ball was bowled at Nyakasura. Hosting the Boys Schools Cricket Week here is long overdue—it has come home. With over 290 participants, we hope to provide the best, experience the best, and grow more love for cricket than ever before. This region is a hub of untapped talent, and this exposure will go a long way in bringing more youth into the game.”

Kakuba also highlighted the broader Community engagement:

“We shall have several games streamed live and a beehive of activities around. Let people from the north, east, central, and south come and enjoy the weather and serene environment of Fort Portal. Let the best team win.”
