PRESS RELEASE – UCA SKYVIEW BOYS SCHOOLS CRICKET WEEK (BSCW) QUALIFIERS
The sun blazed over the lush outfield at Teso College Aloet Grounds as the hosts rose to the occasion in a high-stakes decider against Soroti Secondary School on Sunday, August 10.
With both teams level on points and the Eastern Region title on the line, the atmosphere was tense. Soroti SS had drawn first blood earlier in the campaign, but defending champions Teso had gathered momentum and were determined to exact revenge.
Eastern Region Decider – Teso College Aloet vs Soroti SS @ Teso College Aloet Grounds, Soroti
Soroti SS: 36/10 in 13.3 overs (D Ecweru 9, N Endriyo 7; G Rwotomiya 4/11, G Outeke 4/8)
Teso College Aloet: 40/0 in 10.1 overs (C Wodeya 19*, G Outeke 13*; L Marknon 0/8)
Result: Teso College Aloet won by 10 wickets
Player of the Match: Gideon Outeke (4/11 & 13*)

Winning the toss, Teso opted to bowl first – a decision that paid off in spectacular fashion. Fast bowler Gideon Rwotomiya was virtually unplayable, dismantling Soroti’s top order with figures of 4 for 11.
Captain Gideon Outeke was equally destructive, claiming 4 wickets of his own for a measly 8 runs, including the prized scalp of Newton Endriyo (7). Under relentless pressure, Soroti SS crumbled, all out for just 36 runs in 13.3 overs with Daniel Ecweru top scoring with 9 runs.
Steady response
In reply, Teso’s openers made light work of the chase. Outek (13*) and Wodeya Conrad (19*) batted with composure, steering their side to 40 without loss in 10.1 overs.
The emphatic 10-wicket victory propelled Teso ahead of Soroti on Net Run Rate, breaking the tie after both sides finished with five wins and one loss from six matches.
From a slow start in the qualifiers, Teso peaked at the right time, showing resilience, consistency, and clinical execution when it mattered most.

Regional representation
The Eastern Region qualifiers were organized under the Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA) hub in a double round-robin format, with the top team crowned champions.
Attention now shifts to the Sky View Boys Schools Cricket Week in Fort Portal City, where both Teso College Aloet and Soroti SS will represent the Eastern Region. For now, Teso can celebrate a hard-earned back-to-back title — one forged through teamwork, strategy, and incisive fast and spin bowling.
