The Aziz Damani Powered Masaka SSS sailed through the Buganda Region qualifiers without breaking any sweat winning the regional qualifiers unbeaten claiming the single spot for the Masaka Region.

The Qualifiers that were held at Kako SSS attracted 5 schools namely Bwala SSS, St Gerald SSS, Kako SSS, Exodus SSS and hosts Masaka SSS. However, St Gerald were a no show leaving only four schools to battle for the single spot reserved for the main event in Kampala.

Masaka SSS made light work of its opposition scoring a record total of 224/3 against Kako SSS with Teddy Ayella scoring a century for Masaka SSS.

Masaka SSS who also feature in the ladies top flight easily won the title clinching the single spot to the main event in Kampala to be held from April 21st-26th April.

Players To Look Out For

Despite losing last years MVP Immaculate Nakisuyi to Jinja SSS, Coach Yusuf Nanga didnt rest on his haurels and brought in some new players to make sure the departing MVP wont be missed much.

Ann Nyapendi

Cricket siblings are famous the world over like the Joyce siblings who feature for Ireland and Ann Nyapendi is creating her own foot prints after her elder brother Arnold Otwani has made a name for himself as a competent batsman for the national team.

Jane Francis Baluka

The best bowler in the Ladies second Division last year is a menace with her ability to control the new ball and she will be key in breaking partnerships for the Masaka based side.

Teddy Ayela

The bowling all rounder has been singled out by her coach Yusuf Nanga as the next best thing to come out of Masaka. She will be someone to look out for in the future. She scored a century for her side against Kako SSS in the qualifiers.

Masaka SSS made the final of the girls school cricket week last year on the back of strong performances from eventual MVP Immaculate Nakisuyi but their inexperience at the that stage let them down with a more experienced Jinja SSS defeating them to win a record 6th title.

However, they have been improving every year and the efforts of school coach/teacher Yusuf Nanga have seen them progress from the second tier of the ladies to the top flight of ladies cricket. They will come to Kampala as one of the favorites for the title and if lady luck is on their side they might stop Jinja SSS from extending their winning record.
