Ceylon Lions Vs Strikers CC
Entebbe Cricket Oval
10:30am

A 107 run win against Premier in their last fixture has seen Strikers get back the much needed bite they have searched for since losing to the Tigers 7 weeks ago. They come up against a Lions side that equally just found a winning formula with a win against KICC recently.

Oscillating between wins and losses, the Strikers have had 50% wins and as much losses the entire season. Tying with close counterparts the Tornado Bees at 25, the Strikers are in a rather precarious position considering any slight change can see them descend further down the log but not far enough to be in danger of relegation.

Frank Akankwasa and his team will need to keep in the form that saw them steal a 107 run win in their last fixture to ensure that fate does not accord them a loss to the Lions. The majority of the Strikers team have been participants in the recently concluded Nigeria u19 tour to Uganda where the u19 cranes side won the series by 4 to 1.

The Ceylon Lions on the other hand are in a direr situation. Despite a much needed win against the KICC last week that didn’t get off to the best of starts for them, the Lions are still stuck second to last in the league. They will need to keep the motivation and determination focused to be able to repeat their victory at the lake side oval. If the threat of relegation is not enough, then I do not know what is.

A win for the Strikers would be just what they need to ensure they keep above the very close Tornado Bees at bay and upping their win percentage from the average section. However, for the Lions, this win would be a very crucial one in that it could see them start the journey out of the relegation zone, as the 5 points and a possible extra will see them leaping right over the KICC.

One team will be fighting to get out of relegation, while the other will be fighting to stay in the division. As such, a win is very vital for both teams, but whoever is hungrier for it remains to be seen on Sunday.
