In the 5th and last ODI of Nigeria U19 tour to Uganda, the visitors looked to build on their win in the 4th ODI while the hosts had only revenge on their minds choosing to bring back Frank Akankwasa who missed the 4th ODI loss.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first but the Nigerians failed to follow up their great batting effort yesterday with the hosts dismissing them for a paltry 154 all out.

Olaleye Elijah (9) and Danladi Isaac (5) opened the batting for Nigeria but Danladi did not last long enough to make an impact dismissed by Cosmas Kyewuta.

Pressure built up on Nigeria as captain Sulaiman Runeswe was dismissed for 0 after Perry Wazombe took a blinder off the bowling of Cosmas. Mba Samuel together with Jimoh Adinoyi dragged the score past 100 with patience choosing the bad balls that were scarce in the innings.

Score card for the 5th ODI

The Ugandan spinners Munir Ismael 4/22, Frank Akankwasa 2/33 did most of the damage and swept through the tail with only Ogundipe Segun 15 not out offering some resistance.

Uganda started off the run chase of 155 in explosive style with openers Zephaniah Arinaitwe (13) and Perry Wazombe (72) combined to destroy the visitors bowling,  Katungi's cameo was cut short by a blinder at slips taken by Olaleye Elijah off Mba Samuel's magical swing delivery.

Strong left arm bowler Mohammed Taiwo came in and helped Nigeria get rid of Perry with his first ball, however, Obuya Robinson and Ramathan Ochimi consolidated the innings for Uganda before spinner Danladi Isaac claimed both wickets. Captain Frank Akankwasa ensured the victory for Uganda with a quick 29 off 18 that included three boundaries and two big maximums.

The series end 4-1 in favour of the hosts Uganda but the visitors have been given a proper test ahead of the Div 2 U19 qualifiers in SouthAfrica next week.
