The Cricket Cranes path to the 2027 50 Over World Cup will start with the Challenge League, Uganda is placed in Group B alongside Hong Kong China, Italy, Bahrain, Singapore and Tanzania.
The teams will each play 15 List A games over the three legs of the Challenge League from 2024. The winners and runners up of the group will move to the next round of the qualifiers where they meet the bottom four teams from the World Cricket Challenge League 2 as the qualification journey continues.
Uganda finished second in the previous Challenge League finishing second behind Jersey. Italy and Hong Kong China were in the same group with Uganda at the last edition of the challenge. Uganda is second highest ranked team in the group at 22 nd in the world a place below Hong Kong China in 21st place.
First of all we are happy that the road map to 2027 world cup is out and finally we will get back to playing 50 over cricket again. The group is a fair one and offers us a big chance of clinching the first two spots. It won't come easy thou so every game and point earned will count - Jackson Ogwang Cricket Cranes Interim Coach
