Another Cricket Gear for Uganda

Our eighth container load of donated gear for Uganda left Bankstown Oval 25th November - thanks to Bankstown Sports Club - who, in case you don’t know, cover all the freight costs for the container each year to arrive at the Uganda Cricket Association. This container is expected to arrive in January 2015.

We greatly appreciate our volunteers who helped pack the 20 foot container... Brian Freedman, Marty Klumpp, Linsey Roworth, Eris Dignam, David Clifton – but special thanks go to Matt Clifton and his mates from uni: Josh Hall, Tim Bennett and Diego Garcia - thanks guys - it made the job so much quicker and easier for us oldies!
See the photos of the latest container being packed.

Rams Sports Club Supports Uganda Cricket

In late 2013 a request was received from Rams Cricket, via the Bankstown Cricket Club to provide any equipment or playing strips to the Uganda Cricket Association. All equipment was to be shipped to Uganda in a special container shipment with many grassroots sporting clubs contributing. Rams Soccer identified over 500 pieces of old strips which included playing jerseys, shorts, socks and referee jerseys in varying sizes. The pieces sent could have fitted out an entire club.
It is with great pride that Rams Soccer received an email from Martin Ondeko, Operations Manager, Uganda Cricket Association thanking for our support and sending some great pics of local girls wearing the Rams Kit in the Girls Schools Cricket Tournament held in Kampala during April 2014. Mr Ondeko said ‘that the best 14 players were selected to make a trip to Rwanda for a series of (5) T20 games against teams from Rwanda.   The program for their tour included a visit to a Genocide Memorial Site’.
Rams Soccer are proud to support such a worthwhile program and we hope to have made a difference to the lives of those in less fortunate circumstances. Well done to the Bankstown Cricket Club and Rams Cricket. Rams hope to get some more pictures of local kids in Rams colours playing the round ball game.
