Div 1 Ladies League

Olila Cricket Club v Pioneer

Entebbe Oval

The math is very easy the winner of this game will win the league, while the loser will be licking their hands wondering where they lost it. This undoubtedly the final before the final as Olila who are top of the table will have to fend off second placed Pioneer who have been quietly going about their business.

Soroti based side Olila High make the long journey to the lakeside oval in Entebbe giving Kampala based Kampala a slight advantage but that will count for so little as the trips have become motivation for the girls from Soroti to do well. That can be either an advantage or disadvantage.

Pioneer were not rated as favorites at the start of the league but they been making noise with their performances and have managed to remain unbeaten so far. Captain Barbara Mukankusi has been inspirational since her return from maternity duty and she has gotten support from Leona Babirye and Kenyan internationals Daisy Wairumu and Queentor Abel.

Olila will be counting on their senior players lady cricket cranes players Janet Mbabazi, Rachel Ntono and Joyce Mary Apio, Damalie Busingye has also been very solid at the top of the order anchoring the innings for Olila and this is a game her teammates will need her to put her hand up.

Olila missed out on winning the league last year are dominant position this year to win their maiden league crown to match the T20 crown they won last season.

Olila are slight favorites but this a very close game to call and Pioneer captain Barbara Mukankusi said

This weekend determines everything, if we lose the game it will mean we have to wait on other results to go away so that we are back in the mix. That’s too much pressure so we have to take care of business as long as fate is in our hands.

The battle of the top sides will be at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe which should rules out any of rain ruining the game.
