Uganda Cricket Association has summoned a group of 28 ladies to start training ahead of their World Cup qualifiers due in September in Botswana. The training of 28 has been selected out of ladies from Kampala, Soroti, and Jinja. The ladies from Soroti due to the journey will train in Soroti under the guidance of Soroti Cricket Academy Ivan Kakande and the ladies from Jinja will practice with the Kampala group under the guidance of UCA Development Manager Davis Turinawe.

The ladies are preparing for the 2023 World Cup qualifiers in Botswana in September as they aim to qualify for the global qualifiers, only one team out of 10 will move on to the next round of qualifiers out of Africa. In 2019 Zimbabwe won the qualifiers they hosted but was thrown out of the main event due to political problems with Namibia taking up the chance due to the fact that they finished second.

Uganda was crowned champion of the same qualifiers in 2017 in Namibia and they will be counting on that experience to get their second chance at the global qualifiers. There are at least more than eight players who were part of the qualifiers the likes of Consy Aweko, Rita Musamali, Stephanie Nampiina, Franklin Najjumba, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Rachael Ntono, and Naomi Kayondo.

Davis Turinawe and Ivan Kakande will take the ladies through their paces in the initial stages as the association concludes the search for a permanent head coach for the lady cricket cranes.
