Kowloon - Hong Kong, February 10. Uganda continued their winning streak at the ICC CWC Challenge League Group B with a commanding 8-wicket win over Singapore, sealed with 56 balls to spare today. The victory follows their 52-run triumph against Bahrain in the tournament opener.

The game was played on a batsmen-friendly pitch at Kowloon Cricket Club, known for its short boundaries that often tempt aggressive strokes. However, Uganda’s disciplined bowling attack, led by left-arm spinner Henry Ssenyondo, tamed Singapore’s batting lineup, restricting them to 243/9 in 50 overs – skipper Riazat Ali Shah won the toss. Ssenyondo finished with impressive figures of 4/36 from 9 overs, while Cosmas Kyewuta and Kenneth Waiswa chipped in with crucial wickets.

Despite the small ground dimensions favoring big-hitting, Uganda’s top-order batsmen showcased controlled aggression. Raghav Dhawan, in sublime form, anchored the chase with an unbeaten 71 off 66 balls, his second Player of the Match performance after an 84-run knock against Bahrain. Dhawan partnered with Alpesh Ramjani (67* off 61 balls) for an unbeaten match-winning 121-run stand, guiding Uganda to 245/2 in just 40.4 overs.

Scores Summary:

Singapore: 243/9 in 50 overs (Aman Desai 66, Ishaan Swaney 64*, Henry Ssenyondo 4/36) Uganda: 245/2 in 40.4 overs (Raghav Dhawan 71*, Alpesh Ramjani 67*, Manpreet Singh 1/50)

Craig Williams, Uganda’s High-Performance Consultant, lauded the adaptability:
"Playing on a ground with such short boundaries, the bowlers showed tremendous discipline, and our batsmen paced the chase perfectly. We’re building momentum for the matches ahead."

Ssenyondo expressed satisfaction at being included in the squad and self-confidence:
“I’m happy to be drafted into the team and to contribute right away. I always believe in my ability to deliver on any ground because I know I am the team’s best bowler. I always want to step up.”

The win pushes Uganda to 13 points – atop the log - as they prepare for their next tie against Italy in pursuit of progressing to the ODI-rated playoffs of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
