Soroti Challengers extended their unbeaten run to eight games when they beat Ceylon lions from the riverside oval in Jinja. Eunice Alungat did get going from the word go with some beautiful boundaries in the first over as she was looked to extend her batting figures and bank on her form to further her aspirations. Unfortunately, got trapped lbw at 38 runs.

The opening pair gave a very good start of 80 runs for no loss with Captain Christine Anayo taking charge of the innings with a 36 run knock that saw her team bank a safe score. She was backed up by Felsiter Akello with a good 22 runs and despite good bowling spells from Josephine Nampeera of 48/4 and Catherine Apolot 6/3, the Soroti Challengers were in total control of their batting innings.

Ceylon lions were totally thrown asunder when they realised their batting was not anywhere close to picking the bowling wave length of Edith Achimo. She ripped through their top batting order with figures of 12/4. Christine Anayo then came in and swept the tail end with such ease finishing with figures of 8/3 in 3.1 overs.

The lions got a beating with only Rose Alina getting double figures for the team with 13 runs for her side. Fortunately, the Challengers had no qualms over the result, but more over the journey back far east and as such, saw to the early demise of the Lions. Ceylon lions managed to bank a paltry 48 runs.

The result left SOROTI Challengers in total control of their destiny. And the lions no option but to settle for number 2 for the season provided no one else wants to claim the slot.
