Saturday, June 21, 2025
MOMENTUM MEETS OPPORTUNITY
Matchday Four in the Lyca Women’s T20 League is a stage of comebacks, collisions, and critical statements. Returning national stars bolster squads, former finalists clash with hungry newcomers, and a heated Group A rivalry gets renewed. As the playoff picture sharpens, every fixture carries weight and narrative spice.
SATURDAY – JUNE 21, 2025 – FIXTURE PREVIEWS
Soroti City vs Tornado – Entebbe Cricket Oval – 10am & 2pm
Top vs Bottom, But With a Twist
Group A leaders Soroti City (4-0, 8pts) are back to full strength — welcoming home Proscovia Alako, Janet Mbabazi, Sarah Tino, and Kevin Amuge from national duty at the Kwibuka Tournament. Already dominant, the defending champions now become even more fearsome.
Tornado (0-4), on the other hand, are still winless — but a debut for veteran spinner Consylate Aweko, formerly of Africa CC, could spark resistance.
With no head-to-head history in the league, this first-time face-off holds fresh intrigue. Can Tornado defy the odds, or will Soroti’s title charge remain unstoppable?
Africa CC vs JACC – Jinja SS Oval – 10am & 2pm
Old Rivalry, New Stakes
In Group B, winless Africa CC face rejuvenated JACC, fresh off a breakthrough win over Mukono. With Immaculate Nakisuyi and Kevin Awino back from national duty, JACC’s engine room is restored.
Their 2024 encounters delivered drama:
▪️ JACC defended 87 to win by 7 runs in a low-scoring thriller.
▪️ Africa CC hit back with a blazing chase — Sarah Walaza smashing 50 (30) in an 8-wicket rout.
Walaza returns for ACC this weekend, setting the stage for a fierce rematch. Expect edge-of-your-seat moments as both chase vital points.
Olila vs Mukono Development – GM Sugar Oval – 10am & 2pm
The Unbeaten vs The Upstarts
Six wins. Zero losses. Olila CC are the team to beat in Group B, and they’ve just gotten stronger — captain Phiona Kulume and slow left-arm orthodox Sarah Akiteng are back in action.
But Mukono Development are no pushovers. With three wins from four, the newcomers are second in the group and eager to announce themselves on the big stage.
This first-ever showdown could shift the Group B landscape. Will Olila maintain their flawless record, or can Mukono pull off the upset of the season?
Pioneer vs Wanderers – Serenity Oval, Kamengo – 10am & 2pm
Rivalry Renewed in the Heart of Group A
It’s a rematch laced with history. In 2024, Wanderers edged Pioneer twice — once defending 115 by 6 runs, and again chasing 106 with a ball to spare.
This year, Wanderers (2-2, 4pts) aim to bounce back from a heavy 55-run loss to Soroti. Pioneer (1-3, 2pts) are riding high after beating Tornado Bees by 4 wickets.
The stakes? Climbing the Group A ladder and reigniting playoff dreams. Expect grit, revenge, and a close contest at the relocated venue in Kamengo.
