June 17, 2025 – Matchday Three brought intense action to the GM Sugar Oval in Jinja, where two closely fought games unfolded between hosts Jinja SS and defending champions Olila Cricket Club. Both contests tested nerves, but it was Olila who held their composure to clinch back-to-back wins, powered by their bowling depth and game awareness – something that was reciprocated by Soroti City who continue to dictate pace in Group A.
GM Sugar Oval – Jinja SS vs Olila CC (Morning Game)
Olila: 75/9 (20 overs) | Jinja SS: 62/8 (20 overs)
Result: Olila CC won by 13 runs
The early game began with Jinja SS winning the toss and sending Olila in to bat. The visitors stumbled out of the gate, losing early wickets before Josephine Icumar (13) and a generous 24 extras helped them limp to 75/9 in 20 overs. Jinja’s attack, led by Tahia Nassuuna (2/2) and Suzan Kakai (2/9), remained disciplined throughout.
In reply, Jinja SS never got going. Despite Suzan Kakai’s 14-run stand, the rest of the line-up fell prey to Olila’s relentless pressure. Malisa Ariokot starred with a decisive three-wicket haul that cost only 11 runs, while Lorna Anyait (2/13) and Asumin Akurut (2/5) tightened the screws in the middle overs. Jinja ended on 62/8, falling short by 13 runs in a low-scoring thriller.

Ruth Mary Tumwebaze was the standout bowler for Jinja, grabbing 3 wickets for 7 runs and applying crucial middle-over pressure.
In response, Jinja SS looked steady but couldn’t find the late-innings momentum. Despite Mary Namiiro’s patient 16 and a resilient 16* from Rashidah Tikabula, the hosts were pegged back by smart bowling changes and tight fielding. At the end of the innings, Jinja SS could only muster 3 runs, finishing on 77/6.
