MATCHDAY ONE PREVIEW
Fixtures - Division II – March 29, 2025 – 10am
Jinja SS vs. Soroti City – Jinja SS Oval
Tornado vs. Mukono Development – Entebbe Oval
The much-anticipated 2025 UCA Men’s 50-Over National League bowls off this weekend, ushering in an action-packed season across the Division One and Division Two. The campaign gets underway on Saturday, March 29, with two thrilling Division Two fixtures as Mukono Development makes its league debut against Tornado at the lakeside oval in Entebbe, while Soroti City travels to face Jinja SS at Jinja SS Oval.
New Season, New Format
Unlike last year’s format, where Division Two combined T20 group stages before transitioning to 50-over knockout rounds, the 2025 season will see both divisions fully committed to the 50-over format throughout. Division One, meanwhile, retains its single round-robin structure.
A major scheduling shift this year sees matches played on both Saturdays and Sundays, streamlining the calendar to conclude earlier and accommodate the T20 and T10 leagues later in the year. This strategic adjustment aims to maximize player participation across multiple formats.
Division One Line-up
Eight teams will battle for supremacy in Division One:
Kutch Tigers (Defending Champions), Wanderers, Aboojo (formerly Nyakasura CC), Tornado Bees, Ceylon Lions, Avengers, JACC (first-time entrants in Division One), Rounders (promoted after Patidar’s withdrawal)
Division Two Breakdown
Division Two is split into two groups (A & B) based on ground ownership and draw results.
Group A: Soroti City, Jinja SS, Patidar, Kutch Tigers B (debutants), Entale (formerly Nyakasura B), Nile, Budo
Group B: Tornado, Premier, GM Sugar (debutants), Mukono Development (debutants), SKLPS, Mukono Warriors (second season), Aziz Daman Ismaili, St John’s SS, Mukono Warriors
Note: Africa Cricket Club (ACC) will not feature in this year’s 50-over league but will compete in the subsequent tournaments later in the season.
Building on Last Season
In 2024, Kutch Tigers lifted the Division One trophy, while Avengers emerged as Division Two champions after defeating JACC in the final. As the 2025 edition begins, teams will be looking to defend titles, make statements, and chase new milestones.
With a mix of seasoned contenders and ambitious newcomers, the league promises high-intensity clashes and unforgettable moments. Cricket fans across Uganda can expect an electrifying season as the UCA Men’s 50-Over National League takes center stage!
