Africa CC Vs Patidar CC

Match Summary

Africa CC 117/10 in 27 overs (John Ilukor 45 off 44, Collins Okwalinga 21 Not Out) lost to Patidar CC 235/10 in 42.4 overs (Farid Dinani 61 Not Out, Rajesh Saini 38 off 28) by 118 runs.

Player of Match: Farid Dinani (61 Not Out off 95)

10 man Africa Cricket Club suffered a 118 run beating at the hands of table leaders Patidar at the Budo cricket oval.

Africa won the toss and surprisingly took the field first, a decision that came back and haunted them. They got off to a great start snaring 5 wickets in 16 overs for a measly 61 runs. Everything seemed to be working for them until the very moment they introduced spin to their attack.

Patidar went from 61/5 to 140/6 with Farid Dinani (61 off 98) and Rajesh Saini (38 off 28) setting up a 77 ball 79 run partnership. Another two wickets quickly fell for 12 runs to leave Patidar at 152/8. Farids innings were complimented by tail enders Hiral Patel (20 off 18) and Mukhtar Ahmed (28 off 25) to see Patidar safely over the 200 run mark to finish with 235 in 42.4 overs.

Africa’s bowling was less than stellar as they freely gave away a whopping 41 runs in extras to the opposition. Patidar on the other hand were not as giving as they limited their extras to just 18 runs. The final result was in no way reflective of the Africa side that found it easy to get runs in their last 2 fixtures.

Africa were bundled out for 117 in 27 overs, falling short by 118 runs of their target. The trouble started as early as the first 6 overs that saw them lose 5 wickets for just 17 runs. Defeat was on the cards at this point despite John Illukor’s 50 ball 45 at number 4. Africa were less than inspiring out in the field and Patidar just easily took home all the points from the game.

The win sees Patidar extend their lead at the top to 42 points from 9 games while Africa remain in 6th with 29 points, 16 points ahead of Wanderers with 13, who they play next. A win against Wanderers could see them catapult over SKLPS and Avengers to 3rd place.

Nile CC Vs Avengers CC

Jinja Oval

Match Summary

Avengers CC 134/4 in 17.3 overs (Nirav Sevak 33 off 39, Alpha Adowa 33 off 37) beat Nile CC 132/10 in 23.3 overs (Turab Allani 57 off 55) by 6 Wickets

Player of match: Alpha Adowa

Avengers Cricket Club have made it three in their last three outings in the league notching up another win, with Nile Cricket Club their latest victims.

Eyebrows were raised when the Avengers captain won the toss and opted to field first, something Nile did not see coming. Throughout the season, Nile has found themselves on the receiving end of outrageous scores, with their latest being 411 against Tornado. To be the one to set the score was entirely a different approach for them.

They took to the bat scoring 132 runs in under 24 overs, perhaps overwhelmed by the prospect of batting through 50 overs, a feat never before achieved. The only outstanding performer was Turab Allani who stuck to his guns to get a 55 ball half ton of 57.

If the long drive home from the Jinja oval was anything to be considered for the Avengers, then their run chase was everything to go by it. They lost 4 wickets but were able to get to their total in 17.3 overs. Alpha Adowa (33 off 37) and Nirav Sevak (33 off 39) led the charges and combined well to see that they were back in Kampala before sundown.

This impressive streak sees the Avengers close in on the table leaders Patidar (42) and Tornado (36). They currently sit 3rd on the table with 33 points from 9 games. Nile on the other remain in 7th with 6 points collecting just one win against bottom placed K.C. Budo (5). As things stand, both Nile and Budo could face the axe when the season draws to a close.
