Ceylon Lions CC Vs Kutchi Tigers – 10:30am

Ceylon Lions have lost four out four of their season opening games this year and they need to find a win soon rather than later. They were able to defeat KICC comprehensively in their first game of the season but a board room decision denied them this win because of allegedly using unregistered players. The Ceylon Lions and Premier are the only sides yet to win a game in the top flight and the former will be looking at changing this statistic.

Since then they have lost to three games in a row and lie closer to the bottom of the league than at the top where they deserve. Despite the poor results Ceylon Lions is loaded with some of the best young talent in the league and the late addition of the Singh brother Narinder and Varinder to their side makes them a more potent team.

However, more is needed from national team players Simon Ssesazi, Jonathan Ssebanja and Arnold Otwani if the lions are to start making some upward movement on the table. Otwani and Ssesazi are the only genuine batsmen in the side and will need to score the bulk of the runs that the Lions require to stay up while the majority of the other players in the side are hard hitting all rounders whose power game is yet to trouble team.

Their opponents on Sunday Kutchi Tigers have had mixed results losing two games so far losing to the defending champions Aziz Damani by 5 wickets and KICC but have been able to pick up 2 wins against Premier and Challengers. The Tigers are a very clinical side with ball but their lack of depth with the bat derails their efforts to close out wins.

The game in Lugogo is the only Div 1 encounter this weekend and Ceylon Lions will be desperate for the win.
