Premiers’ campaign in the division has been less than stellar so far, failing to win a single game in the season. They have been battered and bettered by each and every opponent they have faced and their clash against Aziz Damani will probably not be any different.
The defending champions have only played two games so far, winning both comfortably. Games they easily won against Kutchi Tigers and a Strikers side that was yet to find their footing in the league. Aziz Damani’s hopes of defending their title depend on their tenacity in every game they play. It is therefore safe to say that they will not take anything for granted and the game against Premier will not be any different.
Should the men in yellow win the toss, they will probably elect to bat first so that they can give their batsmen every opportunity to stake their claim as contenders for batsman of the season at the close of the campaign. Daudi Rajani impressed with an unbeaten 113 (122) against Strikers in their opening fixture and will look to continue this impressive display when facing the Premier bowlers. With five players returning from national duty, and the experienced coach Steve Tikolo also playing, Premier will come up against a full strength Damani and the rest of the story will unfold on the green.
Premier CC are winless and facing a full strength Damani will probably leave them searching for that first win of the season long after the encounter. If I were a betting man, I wouldn’t put my chips on Premier. The gulf of quality between the two sides is so immense that comparisons between the two sides would be futile.
