Zephaniah Arinaitwe aka Katungi has left KICC to join new comers Strikers for the 2018 season. Strikers who gained promotion from Div 2 last season have laid down the gaunt by signing the exciting U19 batsman.

Zephaniah has spent the last 2 seasons with KICC and even though they haven’t been exciting, Katungi is one of the best stroke players among the new generation.

He has scored runs fun in schools cricket and was the best batsman at the U19 World Cup Qualifiers in Kenya last year. He has just returned from his maiden tour with the national team in Qatar and India where he did fairly well.

His move to strikers will hurt KICC because it makes their rivals stronger, strikers is loaded with some of the best young talent in the local league and Katungi will feel at home with his peers.

Katungi adds a lot of class to a team that has Frank Akankwasa, Rogers Olipa, Perry Wazombe and Simon Oketcho who have all featured for the U19 team in the recent past. This signing shows the intent of Strikers who edged out ACC for the final promotion place to Div 1 via net run rate.

Strikers a sister club to Challengers have progressed from Div 3 winning the Div 3 title in their maiden season in the league, they had fortune on their side last season as ACC self-destructed in their final 3 games to give Strikers the edge by run rate.

From the rumor mill in Lugogo, Katungi seems to be the 1st and not final big signing that Strikers is going to make.
