2025 UCA NATIONAL MEN’S 50 OVER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 10 PREVIEW
Weekend of Sunday, June 8-9, 2025
THE BUILD-UP!
We’re into the thick of the second round of the 2025 UCA National Men’s 50 Over League - and Matchday 10 is packed with grudge matches, revenge missions, and playoff-shaping battles across both divisions. With form fluctuating and standings tighter, season-defining moments are on card.
SUNDAY – JUNE 8, 2025 – DIVISION ONE FIXTURES
Wanderers vs Rounders – Entebbe Cricket Oval – 10am
Old Grudge, New Stakes
One of the league’s most heated rivalries is reignited. In their first-round meeting, Wanderers secured their first win of the campaign by downing Rounders by 25 runs at Lugogo, sparked by a debut half-ton from Vamsi Krishna and a flying start from Perry Wazombe.
But momentum has since stalled for both. Wanderers fell to a 7-wicket defeat to Avengers last week after setting 250, while Rounders imploded in a 190-run chase against JACC, losing by 81 runs in the Jinja Derby.
Crucially, Rounders remain without ex-Cricket Cranes captain Brian Masaba, now on duty with the Victoria Pearls in Kigali. Can Wanderers complete a double and climb off the foot of the table? Or will Rounders fight back and reignite their campaign? Expect fireworks at the lakeside oval.

Aboojo vs Avengers – Serenity Oval, Kamengo – 10am
Top-Four Showdown
Fifth hosts fourth in a high-stakes clash with playoff implications. Avengers edged Aboojo by 4 wickets in their first meeting on May 11, and Aboojo are out for revenge.
Last week, Aboojo fell agonizingly short against Ceylon Lions, losing by 2 wickets via the DLS method. Avengers, meanwhile, looked resurgent as skipper Joshi Yashashvi smashed a century in a successful 250-run chase against Wanderers. Aboojo’s young core must sharpen their death bowling to contain Yashashvi’s form, while Avengers will look to climb above the cutoff zone. With both teams itching to get one over the other, this could be a playoff decider.
Tornado Bee vs JACC – Jinja SS Oval – 10am
Spoiler Warning from the Bees
Sixth-placed Tornado Bee lock horns with third-placed JACC in their first meeting of the campaign. Tornado Bee are brimming with talent but seeking consistency after a 54-run loss to Kutchi Tigers last Sunday.
JACC, on the other hand, are in solid form - dispatching Rounders by 81 runs last weekend. With a well-balanced XI and sharp bowling, they remain firm title contenders.
Can the Bees sting in Jinja and upset the hierarchy, or will JACC maintain their top-three perch?
SUNDAY – JUNE 8, 2025 – DIVISION TWO FIXTURES
Entale vs Budo – Lugogo Cricket Oval – 10am
New Rivalry, High Stakes
A first-ever face-off between Entale and Budo promises a fierce contest. Budo thrashed Jinja SS by 134 runs last time out and have developed a reputation for overwhelming younger sides.
Entale return after a break due to bereavement in their camp. Now regrouped, they’ll look to find form and shake up Group B.
With playoff chances on the line, this one could tilt either way at the capital’s main oval.
SKLPS vs Ismaili Community – GM Sugar Oval, Njeru – 10am
Mid-Table Mayhem
A pivotal battle in Group B pits SKLPS (3pts) against Ismaili Community (5pts). SKLPS come off a crushing win over Mukono Development—dismissing them for 68 before sealing victory with ease.
Ismaili also impressed last weekend, thumping Tornado by 83 runs with a clinical all-round display.
Expect a tight clash in Njeru, where middle-over execution and strike rotation could swing the result and determine who stays in the playoff race.
GM Sugar vs St. John’s Mukono – Florida Oval, 10am
Top-of-the-Table Tussle
It’s the Division Two blockbuster of the weekend as unbeaten GM Sugar lock horns with second-placed St. John’s Mukono in a Group B showdown brimming with title implications.
GM Sugar have dominated so far - 4 wins from 4 - and come into this clash on the back of a commanding 118-run win over Mukono Warriors. Their mix of power-hitting and disciplined bowling makes them the team to beat.
But don’t write off St. John’s Mukono. With 6 points from 5 games, they’ve steadily gathered momentum and now have a golden opportunity to topple the leaders.
This match is more than just bragging rights — it could decide top spot and influence playoff matchups. Expect a full-blooded contest with both camps bringing their A-game.
MONDAY – JUNE 9, 2025 – DIVISION TWO FIXTURE
Ismaili Community vs Mukono Development – GM Sugar Oval (TBC)
Double Duty, High Pressure
In what could be a bonus fixture on Heroes Day, Ismaili Community return for their second match, taking on Mukono Development in a first-ever encounter between the two sides.
Mukono, still searching for consistency in Division Two, will look at this clash as a chance to regroup, learn, and gain experience against more seasoned opposition.
For Ismaili, the test will be depth and endurance—especially if they’re coming off an earlier festive weekend clash. With playoff stakes rising, this duel could go down to the wire.
Squad rotation, game management, and mental toughness will be key in determining who walks away with the points at Njeru’s GM Sugar Oval.
FINAL WORD
Matchday 10 is perfectly poised: Wanderers and Rounders battle for survival, Aboojo and Avengers fight for top-four status, and JACC look to maintain momentum against tricky Tornado Bee. Division Two offers new rivalries and playoff drama—SKLPS vs Ismaili is a sure must-watch! With so much at stake, the action promises to be unmissable.
