In a bid to prepare the U19 national team for the World Cup Qualifiers next year, Uganda Cricket Association has organised a 10 day residential training for 25 players. The carefully selected listed has players from Jinja, Fortportal, Soroti and Kampala.

The training camp will be conducted by National Team Coach Steve Tikolo, assisted by U19 and Ladies Team Coach Francis Ndege and UCA Development Manager Henry Oketcho.

The players will be residing at the NCS Hostel in Lugogo and will have sessions conducted at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. The camp which started yesterday will run for the next 10 days with focus on developing player skills and match situation simulation. The training camps will be run every school term holiday as way to make sure there is follow up on all the players.

The U19 team missed out on the World Cup on the final day of qualification in Nairobi last year after they were knocked out by Kenya on net run rate. The next qualifiers will be held next year and this time the team wants to go all the way.
