For the last couple of weeks Uganda Cricket Association has successfully held the Regional Mini Cricket Competitions. The qualifiers were held in five regions namely; Nile, Eastern, Western, Central and Kampala regions.

A total of over 1000 participants were involved in the championship from 51 Schools comprising 82 teams both boys and girls that previously qualified from internal District Mini Cricket competitions that took place in first term. We noticed a great improvement from the new entrants Lugazi as this was their first Inter district and regional tournaments ever since the inception of cricket in Lugazi region. Participants from Lugazi put up spirited fights in most games as they tussled out with the other regions that have been playing cricket for the last so many years.

The tournaments went on in the various regions, great numbers involved, high competition and enthuse were observed from participants, great cricketing skills were displayed and on top of everything the Association emphasized discipline in fostering the participants to grow in the true cricketing.

Looking at the side of the basics, the general cricketing basics have fairly improved with continuous coaching visits in Schools. It is a bright future set a head of us with the multi talent seen in these championships.
